Mangaluru: Theft in Kushalnagar, accused held in Karkala

Mangaluru: Police have arrested two persons in connection with a theft case that took place at Kushalnagar in Madikeri.

Qasim, a native of Kushalnagar who had been staying in a rented house in Ward No. 2 of Banglegudda in Karkala Zown for the past eight years, is an accused in the same case.

He married a young woman from Renjala and was living in a house in Banglegudda. He owned an old vehicle and was in the ragpicking business. Qasim, who used to pose as a gentleman with the public.

Qasim’s team, which gathered information on this, was keeping an eye on the resorts. Qasim’s team used to snatch gold ornaments from a group of tourists worth more than Rs 12 Lakh in Kodagu.

Kushalnagar Police, who investigated the case, had extended their investigation to Karkala. Karkala Police cooperated too.

It is learnt that the stolen gold ornaments has been recovered from a jewellery shop in Udupi.

The accused Qasim has been taken to Kushalnagar by the Police and is being interrogated further.
