Mangaluru: A lone tusker destroyed the arecanut, coconut, and banana crops in the farm of Bhandaje Keenyadka Shashidhara Paranjape in Kadirudyavara village.
The residents of the house made noises to frighten the pachyderm back to the forest when they learned about the attack. The tusker went to a nearby farm before making its way to Valambra via the pond.
An operation has been underway in the Chibidre and Thotattadi areas to send the wild elephant back to the forest since a week.
The operation’s team had seen a lone tusker. When the team followed it, it fled in the direction of the Mritunjaya River and the national highway. The operation team did not, however, see the tusker till Saturday night. According to sources, there may be an elephant herd in the Malla region in Malavanthige.
