Mangaluru: Two held with fake notes worth Rs 4.5 lakh

Mangaluru: The City police arrested two persons who had fake Rs. 500 currency worth Rs. 4.5 lakh.

The arrested accused have been identified as Nizamuddin (32) from BC Road and Rajeem (31) from Jeppu.

According to sources, Nizamuddin had five cases filed against him, including murder, theft, and murder attempt at several police stations. Rajeem only has one case registered at the Urwa Police Station.

Acting on a tip-off. the police caught the two as they tried to flee on a two-wheeler when they were inspecting vehicles on January 2 near Nanthoor.

Later it was found that the accused’s two-wheeler was also stolen from the Pandeshwar Police Station limits.

According to sources, the accused took fake currency from Daniel in Bengaluru. Four people, including Daniel, have been arrested by the Bengaluru City Police. According to reports, fake currency notes were printed in Coimbatore.

A case has been registered at the Mangaluru East police station.

The team of police officers who solved the case will receive Rs. 10,000, informed City Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar.
