Mangaluru: It has been decided to place an artwork of the lion, the vehicle of the Goddess Durga at Mangaladevi Circle, While a bronze idol of the Guru will be placed at Narayana Guru Circle.
This circle is being constructed in the shape of a flower. Six fountains will come up in three directions of the circle and in one direction steps will be arranged to facilitate garlanding of the statue of Narayana Guru. It is proposed to be developed under Union Bank of India grant at a cost of Rs. 48 Lakh.
Important circles in the City are being developed with a new format under Smart City, MUDA, and MCC grants. Among these, the construction work of Mangaladevi and Ladyhill Narayana Guru Circle, which is the gateway to the City, is going on at a war-footing and will be inaugurated during Dasara.
Railing is being put up around the circle for safety purposes and it is proposed to grow plants that are suitable for Mangaluru weather. In the centre of the circle, a 5-foot-high Mantapa and a 4-foot-long bronze statue of Narayana Guru will be placed. It is planned to make lighting arrangements according to the beauty of the fountain.
The circle will attract attention with the artwork of the lion, popularly known as the vehicle of the Goddess at Mangaladevi. The plan is to install a lighting system in the form of a lamp in the middle with plants around it and a lighting system in the form of a forehead.
