Mangaluru: “Namma Kaiyalli Namma Udyoga (Our job in our hands)-this should be the slogan for the Mangaluru Udyoga Mela (MUM)”, said Ramanath Rai, District in-charge Minister and Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology.
He was addressing the press persons after inaugurating the Mangaluru Udyog Mela Office situated at the DC office premises.
“The Udyoga Mela will be held on November 19 and 20, at Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadavu which is on the outskirts of Mangaluru City, about 30 Kms from Mangaluru International Airport. It will be the first job mela organized by the district administration and Department of Ecology & Environment, Karnataka. All hospitality, transport and logistical support will be provided to the companies/representatives participating in this event”, he informed.
Adding to this information DC AB Ibrahim said, “There will be a meeting held in Bengaluru with the top MNC CEO’s on Oct 26, and also a special meeting with the Mangaluru based Gulf CEO’s in Dubai on Oct 27 & 28. This mela is held with an intention to help the unemployed youth of our district as well as other places and also for companies who will get to select the deserving candidates. The job fair will be a kick start for students.”
“The aim is to help the job aspirants of the Dakshina Kannada and to bring the youth to the mainstream, wherein employers could choose suitable candidates for their company as potential employees. Therefore, the district administration is intending to organize “Mangaluru Udyoga Mela -2015”. The main mission of Mangaluru Udyoga Mela is to create a platform for employment opportunity to the job aspirants of the District, wherein various major private and public sector companies would participate”, added Dr. Sharanappa S D, IPS, SP of Mangaluru.
Vivek Alva, Trustee, AEF, who is also the event associate of MUM explaining about the features of the job fair said, “A major drawback during job mela’s is lack of information given to both job aspirants and the employers. But MUM will have a unique feature of the aspirants being given prior information regarding the job and positions. This will be done through orientations which will be held at the Taluk level on November 7 & 8.”
“Mangaluru Udyoga Mela will have an Employability Enhancement Centre that comprises of trained and experienced counselors whose primary responsibility would be to guide the students to the appropriate job profiles. Online and spot registration process for students will be availed and no registration fee will be charged for both participating job aspirants and companies”, he added.
He further said that the organizers have been in touch with the top companies and that 10 days prior to the Mela, the job aspirants will be informed of the companies taking part. “Other information like job openings, salary, job locations etc., which will lead the aspirants to the right job and get them employed in a good company, will also be provided”, he said.
