Mangaluru: It has come to light that fugitive Islamic preacher Zakir Naik was the inspiration for Sharique, the suspect in the Mangaluru blast case. Several videos containing Zakir Naik’s speeches have been recovered from Sharique. Sources said that more than 50 videos were obtained from Sharique’s mobile phone.
According to a report by Republic Bharat, hours after the Mangaluru blasts, Zakir tweeted, asking if there was a possibility of suicide bombings in Islam.
While the Mangaluru blast took place at 4:29 pm on November 19, Zakir’s tweet was published at 6:13 pm. Several videos have already been found on Sharique’s mobile phone. It is said that these videos may have inspired Sharique to commit an act of terrorism.
As soon as Zakir Naik’s tweet came to light soon after the Mangaluru blasts, the Central Government has launched another round of investigation to find out if there is a link between the two, sources said. If such links are found, there could be further monitoring on Zakir Naik and other organisations associated with him in India.
