Mangaluru: Speaking at a press conference in the City, MLA U. T. Khader said, “Indira Gandhi passed a law for the entire country on cow slaughter. But now the BJP Government is implementing one law after another. If one sits in Delhi, why would there be a fear to bring in model law?,” he questioned.

Addressing mediapersons at the Congress Office in the City, the MLA said, “The issue of starting beef stalls in the Central Market is a matter of concern to the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and the local leaders. Let them take legal action on this. Will 11 beef factories in State of BJP leaders be closed?,” he questioned.

“What steps has the BJP Government, which talks about cows, taken to increase cow progeny? The Congress Government implemented the Pashu Bhagya scheme and gave away cattle free of cost. The fodder was paid for. Did the BJP care about the cow when the Kenjar Gaushala was demolished and the rare Kapila breed of cows were dumped on the streets? The curse of it will not leave the BJP,” he said.

Responding to Satish Jarakiholi’s remarks on Hindu word, he said, ‘Hindu’ is an obscene word’ is a personal remark by jarakiholi. He did not say this anywhere on the party stage. But no one should make a statement that would hurt anyone personally. The Party President has responded to this, he said.

“This is not a Sankalp Yatra, it is a Jan Sankat Yatra. This yatra is to cover up the failures of the Government,” Khader added.
