Mangaluru: Woman robbed of Rs 8L worth assets on moving train

Mangaluru: In a shocking incident that occurred between Harady – Citygudde stretch near Kabaka-Puttur Railway Station in the Dakshina Kannada District, a man snatched, a vanity bag of a woman passenger and then escaped by jumping off the running train.

The incident occurred on Tuesday August 30 and the train was going towards Karwar from Bengaluru. The victim is Nirmala, native of Karwar and teacher in Bengaluru.

Nirmala tried to push the man when she got to know that some stranger was trying to pull the vanity bag she had kept below her head. However, the man caught hold of the bag with cash and gold. In a bid to save the bag, she even pulled the chain. The train slowed down which helped the robber escape. The woman who followed him fell on the tracks too

The injured woman has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. The bag contained cash and gold worth Rs 8 lakh.

Mangaluru Railway Police has registered a case.
