Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Rajendra K. V. said on Friday June 17 that the ‘Maralu Mitra’ app is ready with the necessary updates and will ensure sand supply transparency.
Dr. Rajendra KV, who presided over a meeting at the Mangaluru DC’s office, urged B. M. Lingaraj, Deputy Director of the mining and geology department, to start a helpline to handle sand customer grievances.
“Sand from the silt removal work at Adyapady Dam on the Phalguni river basin and the backwater area of Shamboor Dam on the Netravati river basin must be supplied to the consumers. The Maralu Mitra app was created to ensure that sand is delivered on time and in a transparent manner across the district. Customers can book sand in advance online, and the app will provide all necessary information,” he added.
“One must ensure that no inconvenience is caused to persons living near sand mining areas. Near those areas, CCTV cameras must be placed. Vehicles transporting sand should have GPS installed. A report detailing the details of customers who have booked materials and those who have already received them must be given to the District Administration,” he said.
