Mangaluru: Former corporator Nagaveni alleged that National Environment Care Federation (NECF) general secretary H Shashidhar Shetty has been spreading fake propoganda against her of misusing public money.
Addressing the reporters here on Wednesday, August 14 Nagaveni said, “Shetty has been uploading false information on the social media about me having misused funds. If he has any doubts on the developmental works undertaken in my ward, let him file a case with the Lokayukta or the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner. I am ready to face any probe.”
Nagaveni further said that she was insulted by Shetty when she had been to his house to question him as to why he was carrying on malicious propaganda against her on social media. “However, Shetty was not ready to talk to me. He resorted to caste slur here. A case has been filed at Urwa police station, under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act”, she said.
Informing about the details of false information given by Shetty, Nagaveni said, “though Rs 1.16 lakh was spent on the renovation of Autorickshaw park at Ashokanagar, Shetty claims Rs 5 lakh was spent on this work. He has alleged that Rs 25 lakh was spent for the construction of retaining wall of St Dominic Church, but, it is far from the truth as a sum of Rs 16.87 lakh was spent. He feels that I have misused the government money showing fake bills. If he has any evidence for his allegation he is free to lodge a complaint against me, but not having taken the right route, he is unnecessarily tarnishing my image. I am ready to face any probe in this regard”, she said.
Congress leaders Jacinta Vijay Alfred, Vishwas Kumar Das, Appi, Namitha Rao, Raghuraj Kadri and Chethan Kumar were present.
