Mangaluru: With the last date for withdrawing nomination ending on Monday, November 4, a total of 180 candidates remain in fray for the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) election.
Among the total 180 candidates, 27 are contesting as independent candidates. While the Congress and the BJP parties have fielded their candidates from all the 60 wards of the MCC, another prominent party, JDS has fielded their candidates only from 12 wards. The other political parties like CPI(M) has fielded candidates in 7 wards, SDPI in 6 wards, WPI in 3 wards and JDU and Karnataka Rashtra Samiti have fielded their candidates in two wards each.
