Belthangady: Health and family welfare minister Dr K Sudhakar has assured that vacancies of doctors will be filled up in all hospitals.

Minister Sudhakar was speaking at a function at Charmady Ghat after inaugurating the new building of the primary health care centre and the opening of the Kokkada Community Health Centre.

He said at least one primary health care centre in each assembly constituency in the state will be upgraded. The BJP government, led by chief minister B S Yediyurappa, has made healthcare a high priority, with 250 primary health centres being upgraded to guarantee that all residents in rural regions have access to basic health care.

Under the mandatory one-year rural service, 1,763 doctors have been recruited and another 2,050 have been appointed on a contract basis.

Dakshina Kannada district has been provided with 26 doctors, including 18 specialists, and 40 medical officers.

The Kokkada community health centre with 30-beds has been upgraded at a cost of Rs 4.8 crore and it will be equipped with all the necessary facilities and instruments. The Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd has provided beds, he said.

The state government has appointed 153 paediatric specialists to protect against a probable Covid third wave, which is most likely to afflict children. Nurses and other paramedical staff are also available across the state, he said.

Dr. Sudhakar stated that the state government has offered monthly compensation of Rs 3,000 each to persons who have a disability of more than 60% as a result of Endosulfan, as well as concessional reliefs to those with disabilities 59 percent to 25%. He stated that steps will be taken to guarantee that those harmed by Endosulfan received greater compensation and relief.
