Mangaluru: On Sunday October 17, the Baikampady Karkera Moolasthana Jarandaya Daivasthana and Naga Brahma Peeta, shrines worshipped by Tulu people, were found vandalised.

Miscreants broke the shrine’s gates and destroyed a Naga deity idol as well as a statue of Nandi. The items of the cupboards were scattered around.

The desecration was first noticed by devotees who visited the Daivasthana early in the morning and reported it to the shrine administration. The information was then passed on to the police, who visited the spot. Further investigation is on.

Many religious sites in and around Mangaluru have recently been vandalised, causing great pain to devotees. According to the sources, the locals have requested the authorities concerned to provide security to all religious places.
