Mangaluru: MLA U T Khader, who has time and again won the hearts of the people through his simplicity has this time stoked a debate after he was seen engaging himself in the burial of a COVID-19 victim, without wearing safety gears.

The four-time MLA and the former minister was seen digging a burial pit at Bolar Masjid on Tuesday, June 23 to bury the dead body of a 70-year-old man who succumbed to COVID-19.

However, while frontline health workers were seen wearing personal protection gear, Khader was wearing only a mask.

The move of Khader bagged mixed responses from people. While many appreciated his simplicity, many others questioned why he was out without wearing any safety gear.

As per the guidelines one should not take part in any such procedures without wearing the protection gears.
