Mangaluru: Five Moodbidri students narrowly escaped drowning at the Tannirbavi beach after surfing trainers spotted them drowning and rescued them on Sunday April 24.
The students were allegedly swept into deep waters by a strong current while swimming in the sea near Fatima church on Tannirbavi beach.
According to sources, national swimmers Sanket Bengre and Shilpa Bengre saved two of the students. However, three other students were in danger.
They went into the sea to save them when surfing trainer Tejas Naik and his companions heard their cries for help.
