Mangaluru: Mangaluru has been decked with saffron and BJP banners and flags ahead of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s visit to the city for the special BJP’s state executive committee meeting on November 5.
Speaking to the media at the BJP Office on Tuesday, district minister-in-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary informed that the CM will arrive at the Mangaluru International Airport on November 4 at 7 PM. He will be accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Govind M Karjol.
The meeting, which will be inaugurated at 11.30 PM, will be held at T V Raman Pai Convention Hall on November 5, which will be attended by state ministers C T Ravi, Jagadish Shettar, Prahlad Joshi, and others. “The CM will attend the core committee meeting at Ocean Pearl in Kodialbail, which will likely last till 7 PM. He will return to Bengaluru at 7.30 PM by flight.,” he said, emphasising that this meeting is being held in the coastal city for the very first time. “The credit should go to MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for his efforts as the state BJP president,” he added.
Speaking further, Poojary said that during the meeting, the focus will be on the opinions of the leaders on organization management. “Important decisions pertaining to the strengthening of the party will be taken and future plans will be discussed. Our aim is to win all the seats in the upcoming elections. Strategies pertaining to the upcoming Gram Panchayat, Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat, Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be made. Decisions on development works will also be discussed,” he said.
BJP Dakshina Kannada unit president Sudarshan Moodbidri, who was also present, gave the details of the state executive committee meeting saying that 120 key party leaders including the CM, Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and D V Sadananda Gowda, and national general secretary B L Santhosh will be in attendance. “Sixteen committees have been set up for the smooth conduct of the event. CM Yediyurappa will inaugurate the event, after which MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will chair the meeting, Several strategy sessions have been planned as part of the event,” he said, adding that Santhosh B L is expected to be part of the valedictory event.
“Over the past few months, owing to the pandemic, the party’s executive committee has been meeting virtually. This meeting is special in the sense that it is the first meeting where the leaders will be physically present since the lockdown,” he said.
Seaking further, Sudarshan Moodbidri said that the meeting is keeping in sync with MP Nalin’s vision that each district should host the meeting every month, in order to ensure that the leaders travel to all parts of the state and work out plans for organisational preparedness. “The national leadership will brief the state leadership about the plans and schemes of the Central Government. These will be communicated to thw down the line to the booth level,” he said, adding that development issues pertaining to the region and the state might be discussed during the meeting as the CM will be in attendance.
BJP state general secretary Mahesh Tenginkai briefed the media about the meeting.
Party leaders such as Udaykumar Shetty, Jagadeesh Sheneva, Gopalkrishna, Rajesh Kaveri, and others were also present.
