Mangaluru: The KSRTC is likely to start providing passenger buses to and from the airport from the City.
Government Secretary for Transportation Pushpa V. S., in her letter to Managing Director of KSRTC, sought bus services to the Mangaluru Airport that would be similar to those in Bengaluru for the benefit of passengers.
She suggested obtaining three buses from BMTC, Bengaluru and running them from KSRTC for the purpose. She has suggested getting three buses for the purpose from BMTC, Bengaluru, and operating them from KSRTC. She has instructed the KSRTC Managing Director to put up the request for approval at the next corporation meeting.
According to a journalist’s Facebook post, ministers and people’s representatives often promised to start bus services to the Mangaluru bus service but failed to do so. He claimed that private taxi lobbying was the reason why the coastal representatives were not involved.
A request was made to the Transport Minister to provide bus service. Following this, the Department received an order to start bus services on the evening of Friday June 24. Three buses will arrive from Bengaluru to Mangaluru in the coming days, noted the journalist.
