M’luru: Police raid illegal LPG gas filling unit

Mangaluru: Police raided an illegal LPG gas refilling unit in Permannur on Saturday February 5.

According to sources, the accused has been identified as Francis. He had set up a refilling station in a shed attached to his house in Chembugudde, Permannur. Gas from low-cost household cylinders was being filled to high-cost commercial cylinders.

The raid was carried out based on a tip-off by Ullal police, food inspectors, and other government officials. According to investigators, empty cylinders from reputable gas providers were used.

During the raid, 128 cylinders were confiscated, including 15 filled LPG cylinders, 112 empty cylinders, and an oxygen cylinder. The commodities’ total worth is estimated to be Rs. 1.92 lakhs.
