Mangaluru: The Southern Railway General Manager John Thomas has informed on Tuesday December 21 that the fourth and fifth platforms at Mangaluru Central Railway station would be completed by September 2022.
Speaking to medipersons he said that after inspecting the railway station’s facilities that work on the pit lane is underway and will be completed by March 2022. Once the pit lane is in place, work on the new platforms will commence. The construction of railway platforms would take six months to complete, he added.
Thomas also said that construction grants have been released and that the tender process has been completed.
The construction of additional platforms would allow trains to run in huge numbers to meet the district’s demand, he said.
