Mangaluru: A Mangaluru student who had been stranded in war-torn Ukraine arrived at the international airport here on March 3 Thursday.
Anusha Bhat who was doing her third-year MBBS in Ukraine was welcomed at the airport by her family, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Vedavyasa Kamath.
“We took a bus from Vinnytsia to Chernivtsi and then crossed the Romanian border. I walked for around 2 km along with other Indian friends to the Romanian border station. At the border post, only Ukrainian army commanders were present, and no Indian government officials,” Anusha said.
“We then approached the Romanian border immigration authorities and were sent to a Romanian shelter for two days. The Indian government arranged a flight from Bucharest to Mumbai,” she added.
