M’luru to get two new cycling routes under Smart City Mission

Mangaluru: Mangaluru is set to welcome two new cycling routes as part of the Smart City Mission. The Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), which is part of the Urban Development Department, will fund the project.

Two cycling routes have been identified by officials. One will be built on main roads, while the other will go through smaller lanes.

According to sources, the project will be completed in two phases. The first phase will comprise of constructing an eight-kilometer cycling route from the Bolaar boat repair yard to TMA Pai Hall, while the second phase will comprise of constructing a four-kilometer cycling route from Marnemikatte.

The eight-kilometre cycling path will be called to as the red lane, while the four-kilometer cycling route will be known to as the yellow lane.

The route from Bolaar boat repair yard to TMA Pai Hall will pass different identified lanes rather than the main road.

According to sources, the route from Marnamikatta will be built on main roads.

The project’s main goal would be to improve roads so that they are suitable for cycling. The two bicycle routes will be student-friendly, and four-wheelers will not be permitted on them.
