Mangaluru: The district is all set for the debut of Mangaluru Udyoga Mela (MUM) 2015 to be held on Nov 19 and 20 at Canara Engineering College here.
“All together, 230 companies, National and International Companies have registered and around 14,300 job aspirants have registered online. There will be 7,500 job openings in various companies such as IT, HealthCare, Technical, Automobiles, Hospitality, Media and others” said DC A B Ibrahim.
He was addressing a press meet after inspecting the udyoga mela venue arrangement at Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadavu.
“Mangaluru Udyoga Mela is the dream project of our District in-charge minister, and it has received an overwhelming response from both the job aspirants and companies. The preparation for MUM began three months ago, and there were various meets held with CEO’s and MD’s of various companies at Mangaluru, Bengaluru and the Middle East.”
Speaking on the various arrangements, the DC said, “All the arrangements are up to the mark and various committees are working for the smooth functioning of the udyoga mela. There is free transportation facility for job aspirants from 5 places- 5 buses from BC Road, 5 from Gurupura Kaikamba, 2 from State Bank, 7 from Maripalla and 9 from Pumpwell. There will also be additional buses from KSRTC on payment basis from State Bank, Lalbagh and B C Road loactions.”
“Food facilities on payment have been made available by private vendors and college canteens. Temporary toilets and also drinking water dispensary, 108 ambulances and medical units have been arranged. An additional 7 photo copy machines around the campus cafeteria have been set up to avoid any confusion”, he added.
Vivek Alva, Trustee of AEF and organizer of MUM said, “There is information available on the website (www. mangaluruudyogamela.com) about the companies visiting, job openings and the packages and we have colour coding system for all those who have registered online.”
Spot registrations are also allowed. There are 900 volunteers who have been trained and will be helping the job aspirants to get across their expected companies without any confusion.”
SP Sharanappa said that the police department has made all necessary arrangements for the smooth flow of the much awaited Udyoga mela. Police and traffic department will be continuously monitoring the event venue and separate arrangements have been made for vehicle parking for the officials, students and others.”
Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadavu, is located on the outskirts of Mangaluru.
