Bantwal: Raghveshwara Shri of Hosanagar Ramachandrapura Matt called upon his followers to preserve Gomatha (Cow) by terming it as a “mobile temple”.

He was speaking after dedicating a goshala (cow shelter for domestic breed) “Vasudhara” to Shri Rama Vidya Kendra on Wednesday, November 7 at Kalladka.

He blamed the British for the “public cow slaughter during 18 century” which led to the “weakening of the nation”. British move gave a fillip to the export of beef in large quantities and today India is one among the top exporters of beef in the world and there is a need to reverse this trend, he said.

Cow should be declared as the national animal instead of tiger, he suggested and termed cow as a “temple on the move”. He also said the new goshala will be under the direct supervision and control of Ramachandrapur Matt.

Presiding over the function, local RSS strong man Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat lauded the efforts of the matt seer and emphasised on the need to inculcate the importance of cattle among growing school children.

Assistance was given to backward community students on the occasion. Shri Raghaveshwarashri was taken around Shri Rama Vidya Kendra to appraise of its current activities.

Many other local dignitaries were present on the occasion.
