Mangaluru: A man suffered severe injuries after he was brutally attacked by a gang of over 11 men at Maripalla on Wednesday, December 9.
The victim is Haneef alias Mada Haneef (38).
Haneef who was critically injured was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru.
It is said that Haneef was an accused in murder case of an auto driver named Rifaai who was hacked to death couple of years ago at Maripalla.
It is said that after Haneef’s brother Hakeem dropped him at a shop near Maripalla, a gang attacked him with weapons and fled the scene. It is believed that this act of revenge was executed by men affiliated to Jabbar gang.
ASP Vincent Shantakumar, Banwal circle inspector Beliappa and other police personnel visited the spot. DCP Shantharaju visited the hospital where Haneef was admitted.
Bantwal rural police have registered a case.
