Mangaluru: As PUC second year examinations begin from Friday April 22, the Muslim girls have urged Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday April 14 to allow them to write exams wearing headscarves. These girls had earlier approached State High Court in Hijab issue.
A girl tweeted to CM Bommai saying that, “You still have a chance to stop our future from getting ruined. You can make a decision to allow us to write exams wearing hijab. Please consider this. We are the future of this country.”
Aliya Assadi, one of the petitioner girls who started the protest had said that she would write examinations only if they were allowed to wear headscarves. Without the Hijab or headscarves neither we will attend classes nor exams, she had asserted.
State High Court has ordered that Muslim girls are not supposed to wear Hijab in the classroom, and follow uniform rule in educational institutions. Following this many Muslim girls have accepted court order, while several others did not attended exams citing that they will attend exams only with Hijab. The girls have also gone to the Supreme Court questioning the High Court order, however Court refused to hear them immediately.
