Mangaluru: Early morning the devotees gathered in a large number to perform various poojas and offer prayers on the occasion of Nagara Panchami at Sri Ananthapadmanabha Temple in Kudupu on Wednesday August 19.
This festival is observed on the fifth day of the Shravana month of the lunar calendar and falls in the month of Aati. Areca flowers too are of special significance during Nagara Panchami.
Special rituals are held in various temples dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya and Naga Banas and shrines in the district on this auspicious day.
A special delicacy named Patholi made in turmeric leaves is prepared in every Hindu household on this day.
