Mangaluru: A special procession and stage programme was conducted by Ayush Department as a tribute to National Ayurveda Day on Friday, October 28. The procession was flagged off by Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo in Bunts Hostel and went on to Townhall.
After a display of Yoga performance, J R Lobo spoke about the importance of Ayurveda and that it must be given priority. “In the present generation, prevention of any disease is taken up on priority. We are easily lured in by allopathic medicine since it has become affordable and quick relief can be experienced. Ayurveda is tradition medicine and takes its own time to heal but the relief is everlasting. More youth must take interest in this art of healing”, he said.
District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai addressed the gathering and said, “The demand for Ayurvedic medicine is increasing. There are quite a few parks constructed surrounded with plants of medicinal value. It is also important to maintain health with exercise and yoga, practice of both of which can help a human being in leading a healthy life.”
District Health Officer, Dr. Ramakrishna Rao and Zilla Panchayath President Meenakshi Shanthigoud were also present at the event.
