National Bunt Maha Sammelan-2016 to be held on Feb 6, 7

Mangaluru: The International Bunts’ Welfare Trust (IBWT) will host National Bunt Maha Sammelan-2016 at the Town Hall here on February 6 and 7.
The event will begin with a grand procession from University College Hampankatta to Town Hall, wherein the members of the Bunt community from across India will bring in a slice of Bunt culture.

The event will be presided over by writer D K Chowta and Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the event.

A Sadananda Shetty, chairman of the trust in a press meet said that the event is a throwback to the World Bunts Convention organized in 2002.

The inaugural function will be followed by cultural programme – Bunt Kala Koota and yakshagana bayalatta that will commence at 9pm and go on till midnight. Kripa Amar Alva, chairperson of Karnataka State Commission for Child Rights will inaugurate a women’s convention thereafter. Dharanidevi Malagatti, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mysuru will preside over the convention.

Seveal cultural events like Yaksha Natya-Radha Vilas by Siddi Vinayaka Yaksha Natya Kalakendra, Surathkal, comedy episodes by Kapikad troupe and others, Kavya Chittara involving poetry, music, painting and dance etc will be held.

Seminars of various important topics will be held.

The valedictory event will see eminent cardiologist and former vice-chancellor of Maqnipal University Dr B M Hegde delivering valedictory address. K Amarnath Shetty, working president of the Trust will place the resolutions.

Finally a Young Bunts Couple 2016 contest and musical night by Gurukiran will bring down the curtains on the event.
