Nephew robs aunt off her mangalasutra

 
Mangaluru: Two were arrested for robbing a woman off her mangalasutra here under Surathkal Police Station limits. The victim is shocked as one among the culprit is her nephew.

On investigation, the Surathkal police came to a conclusion that the crime was undertaken by someone the woman knew and it was not a stranger. On this lead and backed by CCTV footage, the police have arrested the culprits Vinay, woman’s nephew and Mani, his accomplice.

Vinay was staying at a rented place in Krishnapura, Surathkal and as there was a family dispute it was zeroed in that her nephew Vinay could have been behind this crime. Police have seized Rs 60000 worth mangalasutra and a scooter. 

An incident of a woman who was staying alone being assaulted by two persons and robbed off her mangalasutra was reported from Mitthottu, Hosabettu here under Surathkal Police Station limits a month ago. Following this the victim Sumathi Acharya had filed a complaint at the station and police had set on to investigate into the case.
