Mangaluru: A new Congress office was inaugurated at Mallikatte by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as a part of Indira Gandhi’s Centenary birthday celebration. Though senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary was a close aide of Indira Gandhi during her days as prime minister, his absence in the inaugural function was truly felt.
After the “Indira Gandhi Janma Shatabdi Bhavan” was inaugurated as the new Congress office, Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar told the members of the media that the government was to be thanked for allotting the land on lease for the new office. “In order to extend time to complete the remaining work in the building, District In-charge Minister Ramanath Rai has requested for time till February. The building was constructed at the cost of Rs 4 Crore”, Parameshwar added.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah backed Parameshwar’s comment on communal harmony and told the media members at the circuit house that the police had been instructed to take strict action against communal miscreants.
On the same occasion, Siddaramaiah spoke about the sleaze-gate of Tanveer Sait. He said that the cyber crime department had taken up the investigation on the matter.
