Mangaluru: Amid a congregation of well-wishers and followers, former Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman, Suresh Ballal expressed his happiness in leading MUDA for another term. Taking the chair at MUDA office on December 5, Suresh announced certain development projects for the city’s infrastructure.

Speaking to the Congress party workers and members of the media, Suresh mentioned that he was actually not keen on getting another term of MUDA Chairman. “I was aiming at taking the chair in a state board but since it is only for MLAs, I was offered Chairman’s post in MUDA after considering my track record during my previous term as the same. I will take extensive interest in developing urban infrastructure”, he added.

Urban development plans for the near future

“The previous Chairman had initiated two layouts in Chelarpadav and Derlakatte which got held up due to a dispute. The dispute shall be cleared off as soon as possible and the layouts will be developed. Apart from that, the Urwa Market’s foundation stone has been laid and work related to this will begin soon”, Suresh said.

“MLA J R Lobo is enthusiastic in having a musical fountain in Kadri Park which was proposed some time ago. Work on his pet project will commence soon and it will be set up by January 2017”, he disclosed.

In a bid to beautify Mangalore roads, Suresh Ballal announced that greenery in dividers will be a priority. “More greenery in dividers will definitely make the roads look cleaner and more beautiful. Plants and lawns will be planted on dividers all across the city”, he concluded.
