Mangaluru: A third year Mechanical Engineering student jumped off his department building in NITK and ended his life on Saturday, November 17. The incident sparked an intense protest from the students inside the college premises who alleged that constant nagging by a professor drove the victim, Anand Pathak to take this extreme step.
The 20-year-old student was running short of attendance and was often mocked by a professor, who would pick on him and say that he would never become an engineer and that he would fail the semester this year. Dejected by the same, Pathak reportedly ended his life.
The students staged a stir demanding action against the professor and shouted slogans seeking justice.
