Mangaluru: Refuting media reports that a youth from Theerthahalli was arrested in connection with the pro-terror graffitis that were spotted in two areas of the city, DCP (crime & traffic) Vinay A Gaonkar clarified that no major breakthroughs were made.
Speaking to the media, DCP Gaonkar said that the technical team, cyber police, and other special teams are currently investigating the matter.
It can be recalled that on Thursday, reports had surfaced that the Mangaluru Police had nabbed an individual for writing pro-terrorist statements on the walls of an apartment in the city and on the district court premises.
State home minister Basavaraj Bomma, who was in the city on Thursday, also commented on the incident saying that the government has made a serious note of the incident and will ensure that such acts don’t recur.
“Officials of DCP rank will head night beats and 1,500 CCTV cameras will be fixed within the city limits. Streetlights will also be installed in all locations, especially in dark spots,” he had said.
As of now, the police suspect the involvement of two bike-borne men. Three special teams have been formed to investigate the incident.
