Mangaluru: Keeping in mind the controversies surrounding Tipu Jayanthi celebration, Dakshina Kannada district administration has made it very clear that no organizations will be allowed to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi separately, while the one organised by the government will be the only event permitted.

Addressing reporters in connection to Tipu Jayanthi on Thursday, DC Sasikanth Senthil said that the ‘Tipu Jayathi’ in the district will be held at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Hall at 10:00 am on Nov 10 and that security has been stepped up to ensure no untoward incidents take place in connection to the disputed celebration.

The DC said that the programme will be held as per the protocol and the names of the invitees and the guests have been printed as per protocol. However, he added that names of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and MLA Capt Ganesh Karnik have been dropped as per their letter to the district administration as the BJP has been vocal about its opposition to the event.

Police Commissioner TR Suresh talking about the security measures, said that security has been beefed up in wake of Tipu Jayantji and BJP’s Parivarthana Rally.

“Already 1200 police officers and staffs, 4 KSRP platoons, 10 CRPF platoons, one company of RAF have been deployed for Bundobust in the city,” he said.
