Mangaluru: Navrathri and Diwali are festivities that most salaried people look forward to because it is during these seasons that they get bonus along with the salary. But, for the guest faculties of Government degree Colleges across the state, the festive seasons went off just like any other day. The fact that the guest lecturers did not get their salaries over the last few months stole away sheen from their celebrations.
As per statistics there are five educational zones in the state, where there are 412 degree colleges and 14,000 guest lectures and all the 14,000 lecturers have not received their salaries since four months!
To be precise, the guest lecturers in 19 degree colleges in Mangaluru have not receied their salary over the last four months. The situation was the same even last year, but thanks to MLC Ivan D’Souza, he took up the issue at the government level and the issue was sorted out. But, this continues to be the case even this year.
The plight of the guest lecturers in Mangaluru is only a tip of the iceberg.
Sources say that the problem lies in the fact that digital key mapping of the account where the amount is deposited. With out digital key mapping, there is no way that the salaries can be released.
