Dharmasthala: The six-day long unique Lakshadeepotsava in Dharamasthala Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple will be inaugurated by the Mangaluru Zilla Panchayath president Meenakshi Shanthigodu on November 24 evening in the presence of Dharmadhikari Dr.Veerendra Heggade.
The six-day long lighting fest held during the Karthika Masa will have multi-religious and literary conventions on November 27 and 28. Music, dance, devotional songs, magic shows, mimicry and Yakshagana events are on the anvil in the cultural programmes section during the event.
The Lakshadeepotsava will a get technology touch this year with the introduction of offline cellular system (OCS) which enables tracing missing persons. The system developed by a college in Nasik, Maharashtra helps in tracing people when the missing person’s mobile is switched off even in areas without internet and mobile connectivity.
During the multi-religious conventions, renowned people including Dr. Jayakumar Upadye from Lal Bahadur Shastri Sanskrit Vidaypeet, Delhi; Jabbar Samo, renowned Yakshagana artist from Puttur and Rev Fr. Prashanth Lesley D’Souza, Director, Vidyaniketan, Dharwad will deliver lectures on November 27.
In the literary section, Vasudhendra, renowned writer from Bengaluru; Dr.Veena, Gynaecologist , Sullia and Hariprakash Konemane , Chief Editor, Vijayavani daily will deliver talks on 28.
Lakshadeepotsava is bound to enthrall thousands of devotees who are likely to throng the temple town this season.
