Bantwal: A member of the panchayat killed his wife and two children before hanging himself at his house at Manchi near Ira here, on Wednesday, September 23.
Padmanabh Poojary (40) was a member of the panchayat. According to the sources, Poojary had a psychiatric condition and was recently being treated for the same.
However, it is said that Poojary had recovered and was engaged in a stone grinding business.
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning, when a neighbour went to the house and saw the bodies.
A death note was found at the spot, in which Padmanabh reportedly said that he was taking the step, out of his own will. He also reportedly stated that he was leaving some insurance money for his mother and brother.
Bantwal rural police arrived at the spot and investigations are on.
