Mangaluru: Asserting that party and its ideologies are above any individual, Veteran Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary on Thursday said that a party workers must understand that tickets cannot be given to each and every individual and hence must support  the decision of the party and work for the candidate.
Addressing a news conference about the ruckus created by the rebel candidates with regard to the upcoming MLC polls, Poojary said that while he would not support his own kin going against the party and contesting as independent candidates, he has asked Congress member Harikrishna Bantwal to withdraw his candidature for the MLC polls as an independent candidate and work for the party as he has done all these years.

With regard to the Yettinahole Project, Poojary said that both the ruling party and the opposition are only killing time by passing comments at each other. “They are not serious enough to bring the issue to the notice of the Prime Minister,” he said adding that at this juncture it so seems that only God could come to rescue the people of Dakshina Kannada from the devastation that the project would usher in.

“Let DK district not become another Chennai,” he urged the elected representatives demanding action from them.

Attacking senior BJP leader and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa for his comment that the CM was cheating people by not releasing funds given by the Central government, Poojary said that such statements do not suit BSY, who is literate enough to under the ground realities before resorting to playing politics out of each and every issue.

Opining that intolerance is fueled by the Sangh Parivar with able backing by the ruling BJP at the centre, Poojary said that communal clashes are ‘created’ in this nation by the cabinet ministers and their hate speeches.

“Dr Subramanyam Swamy alone is enough to destroy the BJP party, I am still advising the PM to understand the situation first and then act. Don’t think that only BJP knows the law,” he said backing Congress Scion Rahul Gandhi’s ‘political vendetta’ claims.
