Mangaluru: Close on the heels of the controversial incident pertaining to denial of stage for veteran Yakshagana Bhagavatha (playback singer) Patla Sathish Shetty, Minister for Muzrai and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has directed Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh to send a detailed report in this regard to the government.

The Minister has asked the Deputy Commissioner to give report about the status of all six troupes of Kateel Yakshagana and provide information about the controversial incident which took place in the premises of the renowned Kateel temple on Friday.

It may be recalled that Patla had just entered the stage and taken his seat when somebody asked him to leave. The direction was allegedly given by troupe’s convener Kalladi Deviprasad Shetty. Patla had silently walked out of the stage without putting up any resistance.

It is known that Patla Sathish Shetty has been associated with the Kateel Yakshagana troupe from the past several years. He is famous for his own style of singing and he has a huge fan-following too. Therefore, this incident of not allowing him to perform has outraged Yakshagana lovers. The fans of Patla Sathish Shetty have condemned the incident and have already planned to hand over a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner and also to hold a protest meeting on Monday, November 25.

The incident has become all the more important with Minister for Muzrai department Kota Srinivas Poojary asking the Deputy Commissioner to give a detailed report to the government.
