Mangaluru: Patriotic spirit was palpable, as Mangalureans united to celebrate the country’s 69th Independence Day on Saturday.
B Ramanath Rai, district incharge minister unfurled the tri-colour.
Speaking on the occasion, Rai said that the schemes introduced by the state government like Shira Bhagya, Anna Bhagya, Manasvani scheme, Maithri scheme and Vidyasiri scheme etc have been aimed at developing various sections of the society whether it be children, women, backward classes, transgenders, aged, farmers and poor.
As number of farmer death cases are increasing, state government has showed concern towards the community. It has sanctioned Rs 2lakh each for the kin of the deceased farmers and Rs 1520 crore compensation for sugarcane farmers have been already released by the government.
Rai took guard of hnour in the presence of Police commissioner S Murugan, MLA J R Lobo, MLA Moideen Bava, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, deputy mayor Purushotham, SP Dr Sharanappa, MLC Ivan D’Souza, ZP CEO Sreevidya.
