Mangaluru: If everything goes as per the plan, Mangaluru residents can pay their water bills online within a month from now.
It can be recalled that Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) was mulling over the introduction of online water supply bill payment system over the last couple of years. As the procedures in this regard is in last state, the MCC will soon commence the online bill payment system. At present, residents either have to go to the MCC office, Mangaluru One Centre or select bank branches to pay the water supply bills. The city corporation also has plans to introduce online payment facility for payment of property tax and other payments too.
Initially, the payment would be done through the MCC website only. Once the process is complete, a link will be added to the MCC website http://mangalorecity.mrc.gov.in. and consumers may make their payment by clicking the link through their personal computer or mobile phones. They will have to enter their consumer number to access the account and make payment through internet banking or using their credit cards. Later, there is a plan to introduce mobile app through which consumers can pay their water tariff. In order to materialise this, the MCC is now having talks with the Bank officials with regard to the money transactions.
MCC Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde informed that the process of introducing online water bill payment system will be ready within a month.
