Mangaluru: A 26-year-old person who had been evading trial since four years was arrested from the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) and produced before the court on Saturday.
The arrested has been identified as Abdul Rahman (26) a resident of Manjeshwar in Kasargod district. He had been evading trial since 2014, in a case pertaining to a riot at Kanyana in the Vittal police station police limits a few years ago.
Taking cognisance of this, the additional civil judge and judicial magistrate first class in Bantwal, on February 13 this year issued a warrant against him. Based on a credible information that Rahman was at the MIA to fly to the UAE, police from Bajpe rushed to the spot and nabbed him. Sources from Bajpe police station also informed that trials were pending against Rahman in several other cases too.
