Mangaluru: On Tuesday December 7, Congress leader and MLA U. T. Khader has alleged that cattle theft has increased since the BJP took power in the State, and the recently enacted legislation prohibiting cattle slaughter is a misleading trick.
Speaking to mediapersons Khader said that police were being used as a scapegoat for the State Government’s failures. He questioned the government as to why the State’s 14 beef exporting units have not been shut down. “When the government fails to do so, the government’s law banning cow slaughter is a deception,” he said.
He also accused the State’s BJP Government of robbing powers delegated to the Panchayats by previous Congress governments.
