Police arrest two from the infamous ‘Target group’

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru South Subdivision Anti Rowdy Squad police on November 22, arrested the infamous “Target Group” leader-Illiyas alias Target Illiyas.

Based on credible information, the squad and the Mangaluru South subdivision assistant police commissioner, arrested Target Illiyas, a resident of Sundharibagh, from a flat near a Masjid in Jeppu Kudpadi.

“Target Group” is an infamous gang of 10-15 members who are involved in several cases of exhortation, murder attempts, kidnapping and assault.

Illiyas has been accused of the attempted murder of one Dawood, in Ullal and a case was registered against him, after which he absconded. There are 25 criminal cases against him and 4 warrants for his arrest under police station limits of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uthara Kannada districts.

The police have also arrested Surmo Imran alias Imran, who is also a member of the “Target Group”, from a lodge in Dadar, Mumbai. Imran along with his accomplices were also part of the murder attempt on Dawood in Ullal. He too had absconded after the incident. There are 3 arrest warrants against Imran and 9 other cases registered in the police station limits of Bajpe, Ullal and Yellapur.
