Police nab man accused of smuggling blackbuck, deer antlers worth Rs 3 lakhs

Bantwal: A person accused of smuggling and selling blackbuck and deer antlers was nabbed in Valavoor in a joint operation carried out by Mangaluru CID Forest Cell and Bantwal forest officials on Monday, January 20, noon.

The accused is identified as Dilip Kumar G (30).

According to the officials, Dilip was heading towards B C Road from Mangaluru to sell two blackbuck and four deer antlers, estimated to be worth Rs 3 lakhs.

Upon receiving a credible tip-off, the officials conducted a raid and nabbed Dilip in Valavoor.

Later, they seized the antlers and handed him over to the Bantwal zonal forest officials for further investigation and legal action.

The raid was conducted under the guidance of Bengaluru CID Forest Cell ADGP Dr Ravindra Nathan and CID Superintendent of Madikeri Division Suresh Babu. Mangaluru CID Forest Cell PSI Purushotham, staff Jagannath Shetty, Uday Naik, Mahesh, Devraj, Praveen Sundar Shetty along with Bantwal zonal officer Suresh, staff Pritam, Vinay, and Jitesh were also part of the raid.
