Police recovers Rs. 1.92 Crore worth banned currency notes in M’luru

Mangaluru: The City police have arrested three persons  on Friday November 19 and recovered Rs. 1.92 Crore worth banned currency notes.

The arrested have been identified as Jubeer Hammamba (52) of Kannur, Deepak Kumar (32) of Padil and Abdul Nasir (40) of Bajpe. Jubair and Nasir worked as drivers and Deepak as electrical contractor. The trio were carrying banned notes from Adyar to Lalbagh in two gunny bags when police stopped the car and did the checking. In all 10 bundles of Rs. 1,000 denomination notes and 57 bundles of Rs 500 denomination were seized by the police.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the accused had brought the banned notes from Shivamogga and Chitradurga. Police Commissioner N. Shasikumar said that the  police are investigating the persons in Chitradurga and Shivamogga from whom they brought the banned notes.

A case has been registered at  Barke Police Station and further investigation is on.
