Mangaluru: Police seized 11 boats, allegedly used for illegal sand mining at Faisal Nagar here in the outskirts of the City and handed it over to Mines and Geology Department.
Kankanady Police acted on a complaint that illegal sand mining has been taking place on the river banks in the night since past many months in Faisal Nagar area. Acting on a tip-off, the poluce raided the area on Wednesday October 27 and seized the boats.
A case will be registered on the complaints by the Mines and Geology Department, informed Deputy Commissioner of Police Hariram Shankar.
