Police seize 80kg ganja from car; accused absconding

Kasargod: Kasargod police led by DySP MV Sukumar seized as much as 80kg ganja from a Renault Duster car. The accused however managed to abscond.

Acting on credible sources that ganja is being transported to Kasargod from Mangaluru, the police held inspection of vehicles at Tominadu, Kunjathooru. Sighting the police, the accused got down from the car and went at large. The police seized the car and found large number of ganja packets.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the absconding accused are Valerian D’Souza, a resident of Miyapadav and Naushad from Permude. The police however managed to stop another car that came to rescue the accused and took the youth in that car to custody. They are being interrogated.

Coastal Circle Inspector Sunil Kumar and Manjeshwar SI Pramod were part of the operation. Adequate information has been collected about the accused and they will soon be arrested, the police said.

Further investigations are underway.
