Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary has strongly detested the centenary birth celebration of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by the State Congress party members. Having served Indira Gandhi during her regime, Poojary mentioned that the extravagant celebration planned would not have been favoured by her.
“In a time when 133 taluks in the state have been declared as drought-hit, it is criminal to spend so much on the centenary celebration of Indira Gandhi. If she was alive, she would have strictly prohibited this celebration or cancelled it”, Poojary said.
Speaking to the members of the media on Thursday, November 17, Poojary said that those ministers who planned to and will attend the “Indira 100” celebration should be removed by the Congress High Command. “Digvijay Singh as well as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should take extra care not to involve in this celebration”, he added.
He expressed his disappointment over the Congress party members who attended former BJP minister Janardhan Reddy’s daughter’s wedding. “People will definitely not like the ministers attending this wedding”, he opined.
December elections predicted
“There will be parliamentary and Assembly elections all over the country before the year end. In order to continue the term for the next five years, the Modi-led government will conduct the elections”, he predicted.
