Rai asks govt officials to serve public diligently

Mangalore : District  in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Ramanatha Rai who addressed a progress review meeting at the DC office on June 15, Saturday directed the officials of various departments to strive to discharge their duties diligently.


The Minister further warned action against erring officials by stating that mistakes will not be tolerated.

Deputy Commissioner N Prakash who was present at the meeting, gave details of the losses suffered due to rains I the district and said  three people have lost t heir lives. He said two of the deaths were due to lightning strike. Nearly 32 houses suffered heavy damages while three cattle have died, the DC informed.

The Minister directed the district administration to provide compensation to the affected families at the earliest.

The DC further informed that a total of 71975 people were benefitting from old age pension, widow pension, pension for the handicapped and Sandhya Suraksha Scheme.

Ramanatha Rai informed the meeting that the Re 1 per kg of rice scheme of the state government will be launched on July 10.

State Health minister U T Khadar, Fisheries minister Abhayachandra Jain, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Shakuntala Shetty, district in-charge Secretary Bharat Lal Meena, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr KN Vijayaprakash, Manish Kharbikar, Mangalore Police Commissioner, ZP Chief Koragappa Naik and others were present.
